The materials on this Web site, and the Web site itself, are protected under U.S. copyright law and international treaty. No right or license to copy is provided without the express prior written consent of the Romance Writers of America ("RWA"). All other rights are reserved by RWA. The names, trademarks, service marks, and logos of RWA appearing on this Web site may not be used in any manner that indicates RWA's sponsorship of or affiliation with any product, service, company, or organization without RWA's express prior written consent. Information provided on this Web site is provided in furtherance of RWA's non-profit and tax-exempt status.
To protect RWA's copyrights, service marks, and logos, the following rules have been instituted:
COPYING TEXT FROM THE RWA WEB SITE: Text on RWA's Web site is just like any other text - it's copyrighted, as stated at the bottom of each Web page. Please do not copy unless permission is granted on the specific page you're interested in. (The Brief Guide, for instance, states that it may be printed off. RWA assumes our members will respect RWA's copyright and leave RWA's name intact at the top and bottom of the page. Also, items from the Members Online Hotline may be copied for use in RWA chapter newsletters, as noted at the bottom of that column.) While some of the text may not be proprietary, such as the titles on the Romance Titles page, the page design, layout, and formatting belong to RWA. Copying RWA pages onto your own Web site is not permitted.
COPYING PHOTOGRAPHS AND BOOK COVERS: If they're your photographs and book covers, have at it. RWA has no proprietary claim on them. But be aware that some publishers are requiring authors to list cover credits when showing book covers. To copy your photograph or cover, place your cursor over the object and right-click your mouse. One of the options in the window that pops up should be "Save image as . . ." Click on this option and supply a path/file name. The graphic file will be saved to your hard drive.
COPYING THE RITA PHOTO: This photograph is copyrighted and belongs to RWA. (Note to Chapters: your chapter licensing agreement does NOT, at present, include use of the RITA photograph.) Watch for an update here on possible use of the RITA photograph by RITA winners.
COPYING THE RWA WEB SITE LOGO located at the top of each RWA Web page: If you would like to use the logo as a graphic, "clickable" link to RWA's Web site, you may do so, as long as the graphic is not placed at the very top or very bottom of your page (doing so may give the impression that the page is an RWA page). The graphic is fairly large and takes up a lot of screen space, so you may want to reduce its width and height. Just please keep the graphic in proportion. Use of this graphic is restricted to use as a link to RWA's Web site. No other use is permitted.
If you have any questions about what you can and cannot copy, e-mail RWA's webmaster.
Thank you for helping protect RWA's copyrights, service marks, and logos.
