Become a Member: Associate Membership

Romance Writers of America invites you to consider an Associate Membership in our association. RWA is truly the "Voice of Romance," with a membership of more than 10,000 writers dedicated to pursuing a career in romance fiction. We believe that the opportunity to interact with our ever-growing membership will prove to be extremely helpful to you.

An Associate member is either a non-writer who works in the publishing industry, a writer pursuing a writing career in something other than romance fiction, or a writer who is seriously pursuing a career in romance fiction but who also works as an editor or reader for a publisher or agent, and whose responsibilities in any way affect whether or not a submitting writer’s work is accepted or rejected by that publisher or agent.

Associate members do not vote, cannot serve on the board at the national or certain board positions at chapter levels, cannot join PRO or PAN, and cannot judge in RWA contests (other than the final round of the Golden Heart) or participate on the RWA listservs.

However, Associate members do receive most of the other benefits of membership: our monthly magazine, the Romance Writers Report, eNotes, networking opportunities, and access to the Member Resources section of the RWA Web site, and interactions with writers who are professional and career focused.
