Romance Community Mourns the Passing of Kate Duffy

The Board, staff, and members of Romance Writers of America are deeply saddened at the passing of Kate Duffy. Kate was one of the pioneers of romance fiction in the U.S. and the first recipient of RWA’s Vivian Stephens Industry Award.

Kensington Publishing is planning an annual publishing event that will include many of the romance authors Kate Duffy worked with throughout the years. Also, the event will provide the opportunity to develop new talent such as those who were part of Kate Duffy's legacy. Kensington will be partnering with a charitable organization, and additional details will be announced as soon as they are available.

Updated October 7, 2009: RWA will administer a memorial fund in honor of Kate Duffy with money donated by individuals who choose to contribute. Funds will be used to benefit authors actively engaged in the field of romance writing, with disbursements approved by a committee of donors.
